Here is a partial list of events planned in the Bay Area to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks in the U.S.
5:45 a.m. silent vigil for 9 / 11 together with the newly released "Remember" memorial to Henry J. Kaiser Memorial Park in Oakland
6:45 a.m. The Fire Department of San Francisco is home to monuments to remember those who died on 11/09/2011. The 43 fire stations will participate. At 6:58 a.m. fire personnel will gather at attention facing the flag pole of the season. At 6:59 am, the time of the south tower collapse, three sets of bells will ring to indicate the last alarm. At 7 am the flag station will be reduced to half the staff and there will be a moment of silence. At 7:02 a.m. the 343 fallen firefighters from the NYFD will be read aloud.
8:00 a.m. The Martinez Police Department, along with the Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire, remembered the victims of September 11, 2001, with a remembrance at the memorial to 9.11 located at the Amtrak Station Martinez, Martina Vista 601 Avenue.
Fund 9:30 AM Rookie firefighter will hold its annual remembrance 9.11. This 30-minute ceremony included speeches, a moment of silence, lowering the flag and played taps
trumpet. Hundreds of people, including members of the fire, gather every year in Novato for this event in honor of the 2996 people who died on 9 / 11, which included 343 firefighters.
10 a.m. Gilroy will host a day of national service. Those interested in serving on September 11, you can find volunteer opportunities in the Demonstration Garden of Gilroy and Gilroy Farmers Market.
Volunteer hours will be 10 am to 4 pm, includes lunch in the garden.
10 a.m. San Leandro is a city that marks the "moment of silence." The City will participate with Police Officers and Firefighters are available to sound their sirens at that time. Mayor Stephen Cassidy is also asking churches to have to ring their bells. The City is also encouraging all residents and businesses to fly the U.S. flag that day, at half mast, if possible, as a show of community unity and support for our nation.
Santa Clara 10 a.m. will also mark the moment of silence. at 10 am at American Legion Post 419, 958 Homestead Road, Santa Clara. Santa Clara police and fire departments also participate. The event will also celebrate the best of the community of Santa Clara through the music provided by Rockin 'Blues Express tri-tip lunch and information booths in the community.
10 a.m. Stadium San Jose Muni is planning a ceremony. A group of San Jose churches have come together to present a religious commemoration ceremony. A live band will perform patriotic songs and full of faith. A free lunch is served immediately after the ceremony, including hot dogs, fries and freshly squeezed lemonade. Children are welcome
10: AM will host the historic Presidio National Service Day. The Fund, in partnership with HandsOn Bay Area has a three-hour event where volunteers will be asked to work on habitat restoration. It will launch a campaign of a month-long 3,000 volunteers to participate in the Bay Area in achieving 9011 hours of service.
11 a.m. Mountain View is also supporting the minute of silence at 10 am and leave all the work or other activities (as is safe and possible) of a moment of remembrance. Then at 11 am which is host to a ceremony at Bryant and Mercy streets, the streets of Hope and Mercy in movement toward the center of Mercy and Castro streets, assembled in the Civic Center Plaza at the corner of Castro and Mercy streets. The ceremony will include the National Anthem, local speakers and Mountain View Mayor Jac Siegel, lowering the flag at half mast and a moment of silence and remembrance.
11:30 a.m. Napa 11/09 dedicate a memorial garden that will remain in downtown Napa to the west of Main Street, south of Napa Creek, and across from the Napa Valley Opera House (1000 Main Street). The ceremony begins at 11: 30 am selected dignitaries speaking, a blessing of faith to all religious leaders will be held along with other patriotic activities.
San Jose 11.9 11:30 a.m. Patriot Day. Participating agencies include the San Jose Fire Department, the Sheriff's Office Santa Clara County, Santa Clara and the fire department of the city of Cupertino. Events begin with a Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in downtown San Jose. Then, participants will march down Market Street to Fire Station No. 1 for a call of the last alarm ceremony followed a day of open doors.
13:00 Union City Flight 93 Memorial. The ceremony one hour will have a special honor guard, singing the National Anthem, a 21-gun salute, the reading of the names of heroes, and conclude with the sad notes of taps. The public is invited to share this simple but moving ceremony to honor the heroes of Flight 93 and the power of elegant design of the memorial and reflect on the words: "No, but by the grace of God, I'm ".
13:00 The annual festival of 9 / 11 Truth Film for the benefit of Northern California Truth Alliance 11.9, which aims to explore the truth and the meaning behind the traumatic events of 9 / 11 to honor the dead and dying. They also hope to share their stories and provide insight and research on the day, the story of what lead to it and the next decade. This is happening at the Herbst Theatre, Van Ness in San Francisco.
13:30 Stanford National Memory Requiem Stanford Memorial Church. The performance, which will include the Schola Cantorum, a choir of 80 members based in Mountain View, is free and open to the public.
14: 00 Pleasant Hill and community religious groups will hold a ceremony next to the Salfingere Park Hill Community Center pleasant on Taylor Boulevard. The official ceremony begins at 2:15 pm Speakers will include a resident of Pleasant Hill, whose brother, a New York City police officer was killed at Ground Zero and a former New York City firefighter who responded to the attacks the World Trade Center. That will be followed by music, food, activities for children and non-competitive games. There will also be booths set up by community groups and church where people can register as a volunteer or to receive services. The Police Department Pleasant Hill will offer fingerprinting for children, and Hospice of the East Bay will offer workshops on pain and anxiety.
15:00 Lafayette Flag Brigade and includes screen candlelight vigil big bridge. A trailer 40. 000 lbs holding three large sections of steel recovered from the Twin Towers at Ground Zero will be displayed nearby. Program also features Sean Hickey FDNY firefighter, rescue team leader at ground zero, live music. This happens in the Curtola Bridge, Hwy 24 overcrossing at I-680. The vigil begins at 7:30 pm
Oakland Symphony Chorus 17:30 performance at the Cathedral of Christ the Light will perform a memorial concert. There will be a post-concert tribute flowers and minute of silence in the Cathedral Square, run by the Oakland Fire and police chaplain, Fr. Jayson Landeza.
19:00 Panel Discussion with Cindy Sheehan Berkeley, Jason Leopold, Larry Everest at Revolution Books. Participants will discuss the arc of the decade, what has happened and why.
19: 30Vigilia service and wreath laying by the 10 th anniversary of 9 / 11 will be held at the monument to the memory and the inner wall of Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose. This will include a description of the Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania and a new 24-foot wall of memory as a list of all the Neame of those who were killed.
20:00 San Jose State University will host "Into Light: Concert 9 / 11 Memorial" in the Concert Hall of Music. SJSU President Mohammad Qayoumi will offer opening remarks. Air Force ROTC honor guard SJSU will participate, and there will be a candlelight vigil later.
